Pastor Michael J. Jones is a native of Portsmouth, VA and was raised in San Diego, CA. His wife and partner in ministry is Pastor Tanya Y. Jones of Lexington Park, MD who is an Olympic High Jumper and is currently employed with Fidelity National Information Services. They are the proud parents of two beautiful children, Jocelyn and Jalon.
Michael received an undergraduate degree in Sociology from the University of Colorado. He enjoyed a very productive athletic career with the Colorado Buffaloes. He started three years and was the Defensive Captain of the Buffaloes 1990 Orange Bowl team that finished the regular season 11-0. He has always been competitive and he took that drive and passion into business and now into Kingdom building. After a brief stint in the National Football League, Pastor Jones had a successful business career with Pepsi Cola and started his own insurance agency before accepting his call to go into the ministry. Pastor Jones is a graduate of the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology Virginia Union University where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. He is presently working on his Doctor of Ministry at the McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL.
In 2005, the Lord led him and his wife to begin Village of Faith Ministries in Richmond, VA. The Village of Faith had over 150 persons attend their first service and it has been growing ever since. March 2006 saw the birthing of the Celebrate Life Broadcast which airs Saturdays on the WORD Network. On Easter Sunday, 2007, the Village of Faith launched its second location in Chesterfield County. As one of the fastest growing churches in the Richmond area with a membership of over 1,200 members in just three years, the Village of Faith is continuing to transform lives. During its 2007 and 2008 New Year’s Eve service, they have given away a total of nine cars to single mothers.
Pastor Jones believes that if you “commit your works to the Lord, that your plans will be established (Prov 16:3).” He is committed to “Changing the World-One Family at Time.”
